Anchorwood Bank is the most important development site in Barnstaple. Over the next few years Wessex Investors, North Devon Homes and Acorn Blue expect to complete the site, creating an exciting new riverside quarter for living, shopping and relaxing right next to the town centre.

Outline planning permission is already in place for a comprehensive regeneration scheme across the site with a range of uses including new homes, retail space and leisure uses including restaurants and cafés.

Phase 1 of the development which includes the new ASDA, a nature reserve, highways works and a riverside walkway linking the Tarka Trail with Long Bridge was completed in 2016.

New homes on the site are being developed by local experts North Devon Homes and Pearce Homes during phase 2; the first homes are expected to be available in 2019. Anchorwood Retail Park was completed in early 2018 and is now occupied by Next, DFS, Iceland Food Warehouse and, coming this Christmas, Tapi.

Wessex Investors are working with Acorn Propoerty Group to deliver exciting plans to convert and regenerate the Oliver Buildings, the last part of the site to be delivered.

Once complete this once derelict site is expected to be a major asset to Barnstaple and enhance the town’s reputation as a destination for visitors from across North Devon and beyond.
