North Devon Homes and Pearce Homes have a proven track record of delivering innovative, imaginative and high quality regeneration projects within the local area. The site is one of a number of major local investments by both companies to provide quality new homes for sale which will generate the funds to create additional affordable homes in the community.
New homes at Anchorwood Bank have been designed by local architects Woodward Smith and will be built by local housing experts North Devon Homes and Pearce Homes.
Sensitivity to both the site’s setting and to the local area has led to the decision to pursue a lower density of housing rather than the existing planning permission. 172 homes are proposed – a mixture of houses and apartments including 37 affordable homes. Works will begin in 2016 with the first homes available from 2017.
The layout of the site remains as shown at the public exhibition with a linear arrangement of homes to make the most of riverside views. There are two piazza areas and a central park linking homes to the riverside walkway currently under construction. Vehicle access is at the centre of the site.
The design of the buildings has evolved from that shown at the public exhibition to more closely reference the character and materials of the local architectural vernacular, the site’s industrial history and its riverside wharf location. Red and buff brickwork, grey composite weatherboarding and a mixture of slate, tile and metal roofs will be used to compliment the roofscape found on the northern bank of the River Taw.
Homes range from 1 to 5 beds with the majority 2-3 beds.
Split of homes:
Open market: 135
Affordable (social rent and shared ownership): 37
